A subdomain is a website url, that is under a main, or a root domain. An example is something.domain.com, in which domain.com is the main domain address, while "something" is the subdomain below it. Every subdomain can have its own site and records i.e. aside from using the domain name as part of the whole web address, a subdomain can be completely independent and also hosted by a separate provider. Employing a subdomain can be quite practical if you want to have different sites that are related in some way. For instance, you could have an on-line store under the main domain and a forum under a subdomain so as to offer means for your customers to ask questions and / or share thoughts concerning your products. The benefit of using a subdomain as opposed to a subfolder is that the sites will be separated, so you are able to update one of them or perform maintenance without affecting the other.
Subdomains in Shared Hosting
Our shared hosting packages will enable you to set up many subdomains for any domain name hosted within your account without any difficulty. As long as the main domain is added, it will take two clicks to create a subdomain and select what folder it will open (if different from the default one), create unique error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, and much more. All subdomains will be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for effortless access and control. By right-clicking on any of them and by using fast access buttons you can view the error logs, visitor statistics or site files for that specific subdomain. We haven't set a limit for the total number of subdomains you can create with any of our plans, so you can have as many as you want.
Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Servers
With our semi-dedicated server plans, you'll be able to create an unrestricted amount of subdomains for any one of the domains which you add as hosted in the account. It's going to take a few mouse clicks to create a new subdomain and during the process you will be able to add custom-made error pages for it, pick if it will use a shared or a dedicated IP address, change the default folder that it will access or activate FrontPage Extensions. All subdomains which you have inside the account are going to be arranged under their root domain in alphabetical order and you will be able to see and manage them without difficulty. Using instant access buttons and right-click menus you'll also be able to jump to the website files in the File Manager area or see logs, visitor stats and other information about any of your subdomains.
