SSH Telnet
Read more about SSH and how this simple protocol will provide you with the ability to quickly maintain whole servers.
SSH, which is an abbreviation for Secure Shell, is a network protocol that's used to exchange encrypted information between a client and a server, which makes it impossible for unauthorized parties to intercept any info. Many tech-savvy users favor SSH due to the higher level of security. The connection is established and the commands are sent through a command line. The available options depend on the type of Internet hosting service - on a shared server, for example, files may be moved or deleted, databases may be imported and exported, and archives may be set up or unpacked. On a virtual or a dedicated server, the choices are considerably more - the web server and the database server may be started/stopped/rebooted, server-side software may be set up plus much more. These things are not possible on a shared server, since full root access is required and all the other clients on that server would be affected. Although SSH is used predominantly with UNIX-like OSs, there are SSH clients for other OSs as well - Windows, Mac OS, and so on.

SSH Telnet in Shared Hosting
If the
shared hosting plan that you’ve selected during the signup procedure provides SSH access by default, you shall be able to activate this function with a click from your Hepsia Control Panel. If you've chosen a different package, the SSH access feature can be included through the Upgrades menu and it'll become available right away. All the information that you need to connect will be conveniently listed within the SSH section of the Control Panel - the hostname, the username and the port number. You can also set what password to use from the same location and you will be able to change it at any time. All the commands which are allowed are listed within the Help articles that we have prepared for you, along with examples of the syntax which you have to use. An additional advantage of permitting SSH access to your account is that you will be able to upload files through an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you have a
semi-dedicated server account with us, you'll be able to obtain SSH access to it with only a click from the corresponding section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, supplied with all accounts. If your package doesn't support this feature by default, you will be able to include it without difficulty using the Upgrades menu. After you go to the SSH section, you shall find the information you need to connect to the server via a command line or a desktop app - the server/host, the port number, the username and the password. The latter may be updated at any time, if necessary. These login credentials are also essential if you would like to upload files via a secure connection and you want to use SFTP, which is also part of the SSH access service that we offer. A comprehensive list of the commands that you can perform will provide you with a better idea of what tasks you may perform inside your account and each one is accompanied by a couple of instances of the syntax.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
The
VPS server plans that we offer provide SSH access by default, not as a paid upgrade or a feature which you need to activate. The moment your new server is ready, you'll be able to connect and begin working on your content using the login details that you have entered throughout the order process. A copy of the SSH credentials will be sent to you via email too. As your VPS will be isolated from the other ones on the physical web server, there are no limitations regarding what you can or cannot do via SSH. You are able to download, install and manage any piece of software that'll run on a Linux machine, reboot the whole server or simply a particular software component, and work with files, folders and databases with virtually no restrictions. All you'll need for this is a console or an SSH client on your end.
